Frequently Asked Questions ??

What is Paraglider?

A Paraglider is a aerodynamically shaped inflatable wing. Wind blowing into the canopy inflates it making flight effortless. Paragliders are light and fold up making them compact and portable.

What is Paragliding?

Paragliding is a form of flight using only the power of the wind. With experience, both flight time, distance travelled and altitudes achieved can be increase. Many world records were set right here in South Africa.

Who can Paraglide?

As long as you have the courage to be suspended in the air by the wind and glider and are older than 8 years and weigh less than 130kgs, flight is possible.

Who can Pilot a Tandem Flight?

Tandem flights are flown by SAHPA (South African Hang and Paragliding Association) approved Tandem Instructor Pilot. Tandem flights involve you being securely strapped into a comfortable flying harness positioned in front of the pilot.

Are Take-offs and Landings Difficult?

As a paraglider can fly very slowly it is easy to launch and land so all you'll need to do during the launch and landing is run briefly.

How long does the typical flight last?

Depending on the conditions a tandem flight will last 10 - 25 minutes.

Can I fly solo?

A licence course needs to be completed in order for you fly on your own.

As a certified pilot, can I rent equipment and fly solo?

Yes, go on an orientation tour with a local instructor and make the best of your flight.

Where do you Paraglide from?

As Paragliding is weather dependant, we have to be flexible and go wherever the conditions are the best on any given day. There are a multitude of flying sites to choose from. In Cape Town, The Famous Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Signal Hill offer spectacular aerial views of the city. Sir Lowry's Pass, a short drive out of town allows you to look across False Bay towards Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. Further adrift, fly in the famous wine-making region of Franschhoek and Paarl or the whale watching capital seaside town of Hermanus but to mention a few.

What must I bring?

  • Comfortable running / walking shoes
  • Warm jacket / jumper
  • Sun-hat
  • Sun-block
  • Drinking Water
  • Camera / Camcorder

The pilot is equipped to take photographs of you during the flight at a nominal extra charge.
