This is one of the most popular lauch sites due to its close and therefore convenient, location to the city; easy access and of course stunning views.
Probably the most frequently flown site in the Cape Peninsula during summer, a (SW) sea breeze works best. Thermic action can be relatively active around midday giving enough rise for short Cross-Country flights to Table Mountain and down the Twelve Apostles to Hout Bay (8kms).
Directions
The launch site for Lions Head is reached via a dirt path and takes a certain amount of energy to get to, but is well worth it.
You will find the parking area on the left handside of Signal Hill Road about half a kilometre up.
