Tandem Flights
Tandem flights are flown by a SAHPA (South African Hang and Paragliding Association) approved Tandem Instructor Pilot. Tandem flights involve you being securely strapped into a comfortable flying harness positioned in front of the pilot.
The paraglider is spread out on the ground on a gentle slope at altitude and facing into the wind. The pilot is then connected to the paraglider and yourself with a secure harness and the paraglider is pulled gently into the wind, causing the canopy to inflate.
As a paraglider can fly very slowly it is easy to launch so all you and the pilot need to do during the launch is run briefly into the wind and float gently up into the air. Landings are similarly as easy except in reverse order.
PARA-TAXI puts a huge amount of effort into promoting the sport, respecting the environment and making flight possible for the disabled and physically challenged.
Depending on the conditions the average tandem flight will last between 10 - 25 minutes.
What must you bring with on the day?
- Comfortable running / walking shoes
- Warm jacket / jumper
- Sun-hat
- Sun-block
- Drinking Water
- Camera / Camcorder
The pilot is equipped to take photographs of you during the flight. This specially modified camera mounted on an extension arm offers a truly unique perspective at a nominal extra charge.
Gift vouchers are available and make great gifts. Group bookings, Corporate team building events and photo / film shoots can be arranged.
Please note that there is an unavoidable element of risk associated with flying and PARA-TAXI will only fly when we judge conditions to be safe. Check with your medical insurance if you are covered for paragliding as an activity.
Kindly read our Terms and Conditions prior to booking.
